Important Milestones for 5th Grade Families

• Friday, April 5: Submit your size and name verification for the 5th Grade T-Shirts (email Gillian Milton with questions at gillian_milton1@hotmail.com)

• Friday, April 19: Submit photos for the Yearbook by April 19th: Every 5th grader will receive a yearbook highlighting the events that shaped their time at Vinal School. We will use their school photos from kindergarten and fifth grade in the yearbook. Yearbook photos can only include school related photos (field trips, classroom celebrations, Field Day, PTO sponsored events, etc.). IMPORTANT: If your child was not enrolled at Vinal in time for school pictures this year or did not attend kindergarten at Vinal, please send us digital files of their school pictures for inclusion in the yearbook. 

  • If your child was here for both kindergarten and fifth grade pictures, you do not have to do a thing - we already have them on file. 

  • If you would like to submit personal photos for inclusion in the yearbook, you can share 3-4 pictures and we will include as many as possible. Any pictures submitted for the yearbook should be strictly school related and can be from any grade level—the kids love looking back on their early elementary years.

• Saturday, April 27: Dumpster fundraiser at the Vinal School Parking Lot - 9AM Until the Dumpster is Full! Learn more here including how to guarantee your space in the dumpster! Thank you to Troupe Waste Management for helping us get rid of clutter for a good case.

• Wed, May 1: Please make your suggested donation of $40 per 5th grader to help us cover the cost of the yearbook, t-shirt, and other events and activities. You can make your donation online here or by sending a check via backpack mail made out to the Vinal PTO with your 5th grade student’s name in the memo section of the check. Please submit your donation by May 1, 2024. If this represents a financial hardship for your family, please reach out to your classroom teacher or Tim Lewis in the guidance office.

•  Friday, May 10: A slideshow shown during the sendoff ceremony can include photos outside of school such as sporting events, birthday parties, club activities, etc. Directions for submitting photos for the Slideshow were emailed to you on April 2nd (we don’t want to include the hyperlinks on this public website) so please reach out to Lori Coogan (llprovo@yahoo.com) or Michelle McCabe (michellemariemccabe@gmail.com) with questions.

• Saturday, May 11: Car Wash Fundraiser will be 10am-1pm at the Middle School Bus Circle. Learn More Here!

• Thursday, June 6: 5th Grade Sendoff at the Vinal gym. This is a short ceremony run by the teachers to celebrate the culmination of the students' time at Vinal. Fun details are being planned to surprise the kids and to make this event special.

  • After Party: Directly after the Send Off, 5th graders are invited to stay for an after party at the Vinal cafeteria. DJ, games, food, and more will be available! This will be the first year we’re doing this and the party will be optional. The party is only for 5th graders (no parents or siblings) and we’ll be recruiting chaperones to supervise the kids. This is going to be a super fun and memorable event!

• Friday, June 7: Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader/Pizza Party: Shhhh, this event is a surprise event a huge hit each year. On Friday, 6/7 at 10am at school the kids play "Are You Smarter" against the teachers and then have a pizza party.
